According to the Boksburg North SAPS communications officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, this is the most important event in a police member’s career – to receive a medal for years of service in the South African Police Service.
The medal recipients arrived at 7am, to have an inspection done of their attire.
The SAPS Band led the platoon on the parade ground and welcomed the attending generals with a general salute.
Maj-Gen Susanna de Lange, accompanied by the cluster commander, Brig Johan van der Westhuizen, was escorted through the parade to inspect the members.
