Suspect arrested for impersonating police

An unknown man was arrested for impersonating a metro police officer, at the Total Garage, in North Rand Road.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS communication officer Lieut Juanita Coetzer, on January 17, the suspect approached the complainant and introduced himself as an officer.

“He asked the complainant to help him out with R500 cash so that he could fix his vehicle,|” said Coetzer.

“The complainant gave him R500, where after they also exchanged cellphone numbers.”

The complainant phoned the number after a few days, but the phone just rang and went to voice mail.

On February 10, the complainant saw the suspect at the same garage and immediately phoned the Boksburg North SAPS.
