Stolen vehicles – one linked to Dawn Park – found at cop’s home

A vehicle, which was hijacked in Dawn Park, has been found at the home of a police officer in Eldorado Park.

The Provincial Flying Squad followed a signal which led them to the officer’s home.

The Volkswagen Golf 6 was reported hijacked in Dawn Park late last month.

Police spokeswoman Lieut-Col Katlego Mogale confirmed the recovery, stating that the Golf 6 was found at the officer’s home, along with two stolen Volkswagen Polos, on Tuesday morning, February 10.

The Golf 6 had been chopped up and the other two vehicles had their chassis numbers tampered with.

The officer was not home at the time, but police are looking for him.

Upon his arrest, he facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property.

When the Flying Squad arrived and asked for the gate to be opened, no one answered.

They then proceeded to take the gate off the rail and gained entrance.

It has been reported that the suspect is a Lieut-Col, and is a senior detective at the Dobsonville Police Station in Soweto.
