Tennis star Hewitt (73) to face 3 rape charges in court today

Tennis champion Bob Hewitt is due to face three charges of rape in Palm Ridge Court today.

In August 2013, prosecutors charged the 73-year-old Hewitt, in absentia, with raping a girl under the age of 16 in 1981 in Sun City.
Hewitt is also charged with raping another girl aged under 16, in Boksburg, in 1982.
He is also accused of sexually assaulting a girl aged under 18, in Boksburg in 1994.
Women And Men Against Child Abuse (WMACA) called on its supporters and members of the public who wish to show their support for the victims in this landmark case to wear black and join them at the Palm Ridge Court’,
WMACA directoor, Miranda Friedmann, said: “Anyone wishing to show solidarity is invited to join our group at our banners outside the court before proceedings start at 9am.’
