Prison warder allegedly strangles girlfriend

A Boksburg Prison warder allegedly strangled his girlfriend, at his house in Windmill Park, on the morning of January 4.

This was confirmed by Dawn Park police spokesperson Capt Charles Tshabalala, who said the suspect was arrested.

He added that the police are investigating the motive behind the alleged murder.

According to a reliable source, the suspect strangled the woman following an argument.

“When he realised that the girlfriend was not breathing, he took her body to the bedroom and covered her with blankets,” Tshabalala said.

“He then locked the house, with loud music playing inside, before fleeing.”

According to Tshabalala, a community member phoned the Dawn Park SAPS that evening, after suspecting something was amiss.

“Officers had to force their way into the locked house; they found a dead body covered in blankets,” he said.

“A suicide note was found next to the body, stating that the suspect was sorry and was about to take his own life.

”Officers located him at a nearby shebeen, with a service pistol in his possession, and he was arrested.”

The accused has, in the meantime, been denied bail.
