EMPD to stop reckless driving on busy Boksburg roads

Reckless driving, swearing and rude hand signs on Heidelberg and Rondebult roads might be the things of the past, should the EMPD have their way.

This follows a complaint by a Groeneweide resident, who uses these roads to commute to work and home.

She no longer feels safe, having to face the terrible driving taking place on these two main roads.

She said bad driving occurs in the mornings, afternoons and throughout the day.

“What’s worse, is that when one tries to reprimand bad drivers they always swear at you and flip a middle finger,” said the resident.

She said there is even overtaking on solid lines.

The resident added that EMPD officers also contravene traffic laws on these roads, while doing nothing about other reckless drivers.

EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago said they will, on a regular basis, conduct selective traffic law enforcement, concentrating on illegal overtaking and any other moving offences on Heidelberg and Rondebult roads during morning and afternoon peak hours.

“The complainant is also advised to note the number plates of EMPD vehicles spotted driving in contravention of traffic rules,” he added.

“This will assist the EMPD in taking action against such officers.”
