According to a complainant, who wished to remain anonymous, the spillage caused a stench and led to environment and health hazards.
The matter has allegedly been reported several times over the years with no long term solution.
The complainant said that discussions were held with Ekurhuleni officials in an attempt to resolve the problem.
Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe claimed that technicians on site have collapsed a 300mm diameter outfall sewer line adjacent to the sewer pump station to carry out the repairs.
