According to metro spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, the three-year makeover plan came after the park was vandalised in 2012, after which council developed a master plan for the rehabilitation of the recreational facility.
“Phase one involved fixing the fence and closing off the whole park with Clear Vu fencing.
“The second phase started this financial year in July, and included landscaping, fixing of ablution blocks, installation of playground equipment, restoration of power and renovation of buildings. This phase will be completed next year March,” Gadebe explains.
“The final phase will include planting of gardens, fixing of roads, the pool and waterslides. The park will only be opened once all renovation work has been completed. Residents are advised to visit surrounding lakes, dams and parks.”
