Ramaphosa drug peddlers busted

Luck ran out for two alleged Ramaphosa drug dealers when Reiger Park police pounced on them, on Tuesday, December 9, following a tip-off from members of the public.

According to Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson Sgt Mashudu Phathela, acting on the tip-off, police officers along with CPF members stormed the suspects’ shacks at about 6pm, and found dozens of dagga, nyaope and mandrax pills, with an estimated street value of R7 000.

The illegal substances as well as R354 in cash were seized.

The 43-year-old and 18-year-old suspects were arrested and both charged with dealing in drugs.

They appeared in court on Wednesday, December 11, where the matters was postponed to January 22.

The 43-year-old suspect was released on R500.

Meanwhile, the charge against the 18-year-old suspect was withdrawn, due to lack of evidence.

The court ordered that he be immediately released from custody.
