All administrative offices, libraries, selected rates halls and pay-points, will be closed from 1pm on Wednesday December 24, and will re-open on Monday, January 5.
However, emergency and essential services such as refuse collection, electricity and water services will not be affected by the recess.
“Residents are reminded to pay their municipal accounts on time and utilise facilities such as the www.e-siyakhokha.co.za online platform,” says Ekurhuleni metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe.
Residents are advised to utilise the following numbers in cases of emergencies: Life threatening emergencies 011 458 0911, 10177 or 112 from mobile phones.
