DA cracks down on illegal posters in town

To restore the streets of Boksburg town and Cason to its former glory, members of the Ward 32 DA branch went out in full force to remove all illegal advertising posters from the affected streets.

About 20 members of the political party took part in the clean-up campaign, on Saturday, November 29.

The group started their clean-up from Cason, before heading to the CBD, where they removed illegal advertising posters pasted to building walls, streetlight poles, municipal rubbish bins and other objects.

They also cleaned the streets.

A special focus was given to Commissioner and Leeuwpoort streets, as well as Trichardts Road.

“As residents of Boksburg, we are fed-up with these adverts causing moral revulsion to our children, and prompting young girls, in particular to engage in unsafe backstreet abortion.

“It’s difficult to put up with these nasty advertising found everywhere along the streets,” says Marius de Vos, DA branch chairperson.

Members of the DA branch have also launched a petition calling on the municipality to take actions against the people responsible for the illegal advertising posters.

Ward 32 Clr Johan Hendricks reminded those involved with illegal advertising to respect the laws of the land by adhering to the by-laws.

“These illegal posters have a negative effect on the town’s image and affected the quality of life of residents and that of the business community,” says Hendricks. – @FanieBoksburg
