One person hurt in Jet Park factory fire
One person was injured when a fire broke out at an aerosol factory in Jet Park, this afternoon.
According to Ekurhuleni Emergency services spokesperson William Ntladi, a man sustained minor burns to his leg, and he was rushed to Arwyp Hospital in Kempton Park.
Emergency Services says they were called out at about 3pm this afternoon and found the entire structure engulfed in flames.
The fire originated in a warehouse containing waste aerosol canisters, according to Ntladi.
“The rest of the employees were immediately evacuated from the warehouse, but some of them suffered minor smoke inhalation.
The fire has now been contained and we prevented it from spreading to nearby structures, ” explains Ntladi.
The warehouse made of corrugated iron collapsed and the exploded aerosols were scattered all over the place.
Ambulances were on standby at the factory.
The cause of the fire is still unclear at the moment.
“At this stage, we cannot say how much damage has been caused, but the whole structure has been damaged,” concludes Ntladi.
