Swapped babies should remain as such – swapped

According to media reports, the Centre for Child Law says it hopes the families of two babies switched at birth will accept its recommendation that they continue raising the children they took home from hospital.

The Advertiser previously reported that two sets of Gauteng parents are currently at loggerheads after they have discovered their babies were switched at birth at the Tambo Memorial Hospital, three years ago.

The truth was revealed when one of the mothers had a DNA test performed when her ex-husband refused to pay child maintenance, because he believed he was not the father.

The Centre’s recommendation may be met with resistance by the mother who had said she wanted her biological child back.

The court has not set a date to decide the final fate of the children.
