Tackling 100 days in which to make a difference
Rotaract of the two Boksburg Rotary Clubs has joined other Roteracts from the East Rand and even those as far as Mozambique to undertake a 100 Days of Madness project to make a difference in people's lives.

The challenge began on September 1, and each member of the club has received an allocated number of dates during the 100-day period, on which they have to go out and perform a random act of kindness, to make a difference.
“The 100 Days of Madness initiative is actually a district project,” says club president Nicola Fox.
”Our district head, DRR Talitha Carney, challenged all the clubs to go completely mad in 100 days, so we are not the only Rotaract Club to have taken on the challenge.
“Clubs such as Springs, Benoni Aurora and Wits, as well as those in Swaziland and Mozambique have all also been doing 100 Days of Madness.”
Fox adds that the Boksburg Lake Rotaract Club alone has active members in Nqutu – KwaZulu-Natal, the Johannesburg CBD, Sunninghill and Centurion.
The word ”Madness” was inspired by First Lady Bongi Ngema-Zuma, who was a guest speaker at the annual Rotary Conference in June, in Polokwane, on her foundation for Diabetes – the Bongi Ngema-Zuma Foundation, and during her speech urged all Rotarians, Anns and Rotaractors to go out and be mad by making a difference.
“Rotaract D9400 jumped into action taking full advantage of the current craze at the time, which was ‘100 Days of Happiness’. We took the First Lady’s drive, and came up with the combination initiative, ‘100 days of Madness’, as way to give back, in small ways, each day, that brings a smile, lightens a heart and gives hope to those around us in 100 days.”
“The Rotaractor (who must do a random act of kindness) must, send a short description and picture of what they have done to the Club’s PR member, who uploads the information to the Club’s Facebook page, with the hashtag #100DaysOfMADness.”
“The random acts of kindness vary from Rotaractor to Rotaractor, some stick to a certain cause that is close to their hearts; others branch out and do something different each time; some are just extremely generous to the our beggers at popular Boksburg Robots; and some give hearty donations to other NPO’s such as the Save the Rhino Foundation, The Arbor, Autism and other causes.” -@NalediBoksburg
