Embracing our diverse cultural lifestyle

Wearing a variety of South African cultural regalia, members of the Reiger Park SAPS, CPF and Youth Desk, celebrated the South African diverse cultures on Friday, September 26.

In a colourful array of bright and colourful traditional attire, the participants gathered at Ithembe Victim Support Centre to showcase their cultural clothing and traditions.

They celebrated the South African rich cultural heritage by cooking cultural food such as Morogo/umfino, fresh chicken, and ‘shisa nyama’ (the braaiing of boerewors and beef).

The event, which also served as a team building exercises, was themed ‘Back to our basics’.

Heritage Day is a South African public holiday that falls on September 24, where people are encouraged to celebrate the many cultures in the country and their heritage.

The celebration is also dubbed ‘Braai Day’ where people are encouraged to take time out to braai meat with friends and family or hold a barbecue party.
