Police received a tip-off that a 30-year-old man is dealing in drugs, and acting on that information, officer stormed the suspect’s house at about 9pm on Wednesday, September 10.
They found 57 packets of cocaine in the suspect’s bedroom.
The suspect was immediately placed under arrest and has been charged with drug dealing.
Also from the suspect’s house, police seized R1 500 in cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.
Phathela commends and expresses his appreciation for the role played by members of the community in assisting the police in their fight against drugs.
He encourages the community, even relatives of the drug dealers, to make it a habit to report anything suspicious to the police.
The police officers are also applauded for the swift arrest of the alleged dealer.
“The role of community involvement in assisting us to arrest suspected criminals, is imperative to win the war against crime and make Reiger Park a safer place for all,”says Phathela.
He reminded members of the public that South Africa’s Crime Line – 32211 – is a useful tool that allows members of the public to make anonymous SMS tip-off on suspected crimes.
