Discarded mail salvaged from strike
Striking casual workers are in dispute with the Post Office over the interpretation of a clause in an agreement to appoint 900 part-time employees into permanent positions.

This is according to Malusi Fuphe, spokesperson for the SA Post Office, after casual workers demonstrated outside the SA Post Office’s Boksburg depot on Monday, August 18, “We are in ongoing negotiations with the representatives of the part-time employees to find a quick resolution of the matter,” says Fuphe.
“We have made additional security arrangements to mitigate against disruption,” he says.
Fuphe says that the SA Post Office is exploring a possibility of civil claims against responsible persons.
“The mail that the strikers threw away was salvaged to a great extent, and will be delivered,” he says. – @CarmenBoksburg
