“There is a strange product in the line that could have been discharged from the factories and is affecting the flow in the line,” says Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the metro.
He says that if they cannot have the line cleared, they will have to crack the section of line that is affected.
“That will be a costly exercise, but the municipality will have to recover the cost from the culprit.
“The metro’s Water Quality section is assisting in imposing fines on the culprit so that we avoid the re-occurrence of this in the future,” he says.
