Keep away criminals, keep pavements clean – SAPS

There are renewed fears the criminals are “marking” homes as possible targets.

According to Lieut Juanita Coetzer, communications officer for the Boksburg North SAPS, residents have raised concern over such markings which feature sticks, stones, sweet papers, feathers and tins.

Coetzer says that up to date, none of these “markings” could be positively linked to any housebreak-in in the precinct.

“Therefore, the best advice is to clean your pavement regularly, and be vigilant.

“Be constantly on the lookout for anything that might appear on your pavement, in trees, or on walls,” she says.

She says that home owners should also look around them when they approach their driveway, to see if someone is following them, or standing around their house.

“If possible, get someone to meet you at your gate when arriving late, or even someone who can open your gate for you when arriving home.” – @CarmenBoksburg
