Hundreds fined by EMPD

During the period of July 28 to August 3, members of the EMPD issued 154 fines to motorists for driving without their valid card driver’s licence.

According to Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD, they assisted bereaved families by escorting three funerals to different gardens of remembrance.

He says that 37 fines were issued for moving violations, which included operating a vehicle with defective brakes, overload on passengers and freight, operating a vehicle with defective lights, failing to affix registration plates, failing to keep left and failing to wear a seatbelt.

Mokheseng says that 48 fines were handed out for registration and licensing contraventions.

“We issued 36 fines to special motorists, for driving without their Professional Drivers Permits,” he says.

There were 31 accidents which resulted in damages only, one where a municipal vehicle was involved and two where slight injuries were sustained. – @CarmenBoksburg
