Homeless man shocked, burned at electrical substation

A homeless man is fighting for his life in the ICU of the Tambo Memorial Hospital after receiving an electric shock, on Sunday, July 27.

According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Lieut Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese, one of the occupants of the abandoned building at 39 Market Street came into contact with a live wire, while at an electrical substation, in the Boksburg CBD.

He is said to have suffered burns to his body from an electric shock of a high-voltage transformer at the electrical substation.

Apparently, the man has also fell unconscious, after receiving the electric shock.

It’s unclear if the man targeted the copper wires at the utility substation or he was just seeking refuge from the cold weather.

The man was still in critical condition by Tuesday afternoon, July 29.

Officials have not released the man’s name. – @FanieBoksburg
