According to W/O Prudence Mvelase, spokesperson for the Dawn Park police, the two suspects, aged 29 and 26, have been terrorising the community and shop owners for some time.
“At about 8.30am we received a call from a shop owner reporting the incident. Police officers rushed to the scene and were given a description of the suspects which they used to trace them to a nearby shack,” explains Mvelase.
Mvelase says on arrival, police raided the shack and found the stolen items including live ammunition.

“Police confiscated two unlicensed firearms, stolen airtime vouchers, toiletries, food and R800. The total estimated worth of the stolen goods and cash is R4 500.”
It was allegedly that it was not the first time that the suspects had robbed Shema General Store.
The owner of the targeted shop, Mohammed Nurul Afsar, says in the past two weeks he has been robbed four times by the same suspects.
Afsar is now afraid for his life and safety.
“In 2013, I was shot when I refused to cooperate during an armed robbery in the shop,” says Afsar.
Mvelase says the arrest was as a result of the quick response by the Dawn Park police. – @TumeloBoksburg
