Metro refuses to clean up Illegal dumping ‘completely’

Metro will only clean up some of the dumping on Yaldwin and Springbok street in Bartlett because the stand is privately owned.

This reaction by the metro follows numerous complaints about the illegal dumping that is taking place on the stand.

The matter seems to have been going on for a while, and the Advertiser is in possession of e-mails that show that the matter was reported to the metro to no avail.

Acting metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe says initially when the complaint came through, a deeds search was done, and it revealed that both stands are privately owned.

“The matter was referred to the Environmental Health Department for their action at that time.

“We can arrange for the cleaning to take place on some parts of the sidewalk,” says Gadebe. – @TumeloBoksburg
