According to Ekurhuleni Emergency Services (EMS) media liaison officer William Ntladi, piles of complete wrapping plastic material were burning in one of the mini warehouses.
“On arrival, the structure was well alight. Mitigating strategies were put in place to prevent the blaze from spreading further to the neighbouring buildings, one being the filling station,” explains Ntladi.
Ntladi says the cause of the fire is presently unknown.
He adds that no injuries or fatalities were reported on scene and that paramedics were also on scene to assist in case of any eventualities.
“The crews battled with the fire till the early hours of the next day (Friday morning).”
