Needy elderly overwhelmed by heart-warming gestures

The needy elderly who reside in the Andries Scribante Haven were overwhelmed with appreciation when the good-hearted Round Table Boksburg 17 Winter Knights and the Chain of Hope organisation visited them on Tuesday evening, June 17.

The Advertiser recently reported on Summerfields Primary School lending a helping hand to the Winter Knights Project, when learners and staff members from the school knitted and crocheted blankets for the less fortunate.

Each pupil and teacher knitted a small square, after which all the squares were joined together to make snuggly, warm blankets.

Subsequently, some blankets were distributed among the homeless and those residing in the informal settlements, on Friday, May 30.

On Tuesday, the Winter Knights donated the remaining blankets to the 220 elderly residents of Andries Scribante Haven.

Chain of Hope also presented a package of donated, non-perishable groceries, received from Spar and worth R100, to each resident of Scribante.
