According to Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD, their Kathorus Crime Prevention Task Team members initiated investigations which directed them to a wanted criminal, who lives in Katlehong.
“Officers questioned the suspect on June 14 and 15, to find out what his involvement was in the hijacking of the mini-bus,” Kgasago says.
“The mini-bus was eventually recovered in Katlehong at around 1am on the night of June 16, with its keys, and fairly intact.”
He adds that investigations revealed that, when the suspect found out that the EMPD wanted to arrest him, he attempted to get money from the victim by claiming he had already sold the mini-bus and needed money to reclaim it from the “buyer”.
Informants were able to provide Metro Police officers with several contact numbers of the suspect.
Police are still hunting for the suspect, whose name and place of residence are known. – @CarmenBoksburg
