This was done in partnership with the Department of Water Affairs, East Rand Water Company (ERWAT) and the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre.
According to acting metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe, over the three days, 15 and 16-year-olds participated in activities involving water conservation, energy-efficiency and greening of the environment and more.
The expectation will be that they will use these lessons to improve the environmental status of their schools and communities.
“With the view of creating agents of change in caring for the environment through the youth the Ekurhuleni Youth Environment programme, we took over 90 Grade 10 learners from various high schools on an environmental youth camp,” explains Gadebe.
Gadebe says learners obtained extensive information and advice on career choices in the fields of water and environmental resource management. – @TumeloBoksburg
