It is thought the pedestrian was apparently trying to cross the street, when a white van hit her at about 8.30am on Wednesday, June 11.
According to an eyewitness, the vehicle slammed into the woman, who then went airborne and landed in the middle of the road, a few metres away from the point of impact.
EMPD officers who were at the scene, say the woman sustained a wound to the head and other cuts and bruises.
Police officers have described the injuries as life-threatening.
She was rushed to Tambo Memorial Hospital by an ambulance. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
The road remained partially blocked for about an hour following the incident. – @FanieBoksburg
