With reference to the article about cleaning up the “dirty” Bokkie Park, mention should be made of the fantastic job the people running the park are doing.
We arrived at the park one Saturday morning for the craft market and could not believe the mess the park was in after a nursery school had been there on the Friday afternoon.
The entire fence was strewn with junk food packets, which had just been discarded all over the place — the dustbins were empty.
Half an hour later, the workers at the park had picked up every papers.
It’s great that the community wants to help, since there are very few parks in Gauteng that can offer such a lovely venue to which to take children.
But, when it comes to the issue of the park being dirty, one should look at educating the teachers, parents and children who throw their garbage on the ground, rather than picking up after themselves.
Again, thank you to the Parks Department for all their effort in keeping the Bokkie Park beautiful.
