St Anthony’s Centre celebrates 48 years of education

St Anthony’s Education Centre is turning 48-years-old in July and will host an Alumni and Associates Gala Dinner to celebrate this milestone on Thursday, June 26, in Reiger Park.

All past learners, volunteers and community members who have been associated with the centre since its inception are invited to attend.

St Anthony’s Education Centre began in 1966 when its founder, Father Stan Brennan, responded to the desperate need for education in the township of Stirtonville, which was later renamed Reiger Park.

Today it accommodates more than 1 100 learners a day from all walks of life, especially the surrounding impoverished communities.

Of these 1 100, 750 are grades 10 to 12, 300 are ABET learners and 100 are Vocational Skills Training learners.

If you or any of your peers attended St Anthony’s or were associated with the centre in any way and are interested in attending the special celebration, you may contact Davreaux Jacobs on 011 022 4631/2/3 or e-mail davreaux@st-anthony’scentre.co.za.
