According to the metro, the areas of Sunward Park, Parkrand, Freeway Park, Van Dyk Park, Boksburg East, Boksburg South and Boksburg Central were left without power after a cable theft incident on Eskom’s side of the network.
Director of Operations at the metro’s Energy Department, Hannes Roos says work to reenergise the network has already begun.
“We will be restoring power to each of the areas bit by bit over the next three hours in order to ensure that the network is not overloaded,” says Roos.
Residents are reminded to treat the network as electrically live at all times, and motorists to treat traffic lights that are out of order as stop signs.
