Flora Farm celebrates 40 years of gardening

Established in Boksburg in 1973, Flora Farm celebrated its 40th anniversary as well the 70th birthday of its owner Michael Rahner, at Birchwood Hotel, on Friday, April 25.

At the age of 16, birthday boy Rahner followed his heart and commenced with his apprenticeship to become a nurseryman.

Forty years later, and Flora Farm, which was first established as a small farm stall selling pot chrystanthemums and other indoor plants, is now one of the largest garden centres in Southern Africa.

Rahner says everything he has ever done in his life was because of his love of plants and nature.
