79-year-old woman robbed and abducted

Police are searching for five men, who allegedly robbed and kidnapped a 79-year-old woman of Boksburg South, on Thursday, April 24.

The woman’s nephew told police that the suspects entered his aunt’s house at about 6pm and held her at knife-point before stealing jewellery and money from the house.

They then forced the elderly woman into the boot of her green BMW, drove her to Soweto, and then left her at the top of a mine dump.

They also tried to get the pin for her bank cards.

“My aunt phoned me and asked for the pin number, but she hung up on me. Few minutes later my phone rang again, and when I picked it up the caller, apparently one of the criminals, threatened to kill my aunt if I didn’t reveal the pin.”

According to the nephew, his aunt was injured in the incident.

A Good Samaritan from the nearby houses saw the senior citizen and took her to the Dobsonville police station. Police drove her to the Boksburg police station, where cases of house robbery and kidnapping were registered.

The nephew says as a result of the disturbing experience, his aunt was traumatised and he was planning to take her to a doctor.

No arrests have been made so far, and the vehicle is not recovered yet.

Anyone with information about this crime or these suspects, is asked to contact the police on 10111.
