Search continues for missing boy

The search for six-year-old boy, mute and deaf, Ettienne Morris, who went missing on Sunday afternoon, March 16, in Popcorn Valley, continues, police said on Thursday morning.

According to his mother, Michelle Morris, Ettienne was last seen playing with his friends on Brittlewood Street, Popcorn Valley, on Sunday afternoon.

Police officers with sniffer dogs, community patrollers and scores of community members, have been searching for him since he was reported missing.

They searched open areas around the township, mortuaries, hospitals, and also made house-to-house enquiries in the neighbourhoods, but with no result.

Spokesperson for the Reiger Park SAPS, Sgt Mashudu Phathela, says they are now focusing their search on nearby schools, streams, drainage system tunnels and stormwater pipes, just in case the boy was swept away by rain water.

Ettienne is described as coloured boy with dark hair, and he was last known to be wearing a yellow T-shirt and blue Denim short.

“The search continues and we call on the Boksburg communities to assist with the search,” asks Phathela.
His family is growing increasingly concerned for his welfare, but they are still hoping they will see their young one’s face again.

Anyone with information is asked to call Phathela on 079 694 6503 or call the boy’s mother Michelle on 084 766 4305.
