Burglars take off with elderly couple’s Vito

An elderly Boksburg couple’s house in Bardene has been ransacked with basically all their valuable personal belongings, on Tuesday, February 18.

Mainly electronic equipment and precious jewellery were been stolen from the house.

According to the couple, who would like to remain anonymous, they’ve got a suspicion who might be involved in this incident.

“They seemed to know their way around the house and selectively took gold and silver jewellery, all hand-crafted,” says the couple.

“It’s as if they knew everything about our movements and we are on the track of suspects which may lead to further investigation and arrests.”

On this occasion, the residents’ Mercedes Benz Vito Crew bus has also been stolen.

In a video clip presented to the couple from residents close by, it shows that the Vito left the neighbourhood at about 11:15am.

It has been alleged that on the day the Vito was stolen, it went through tollgates from Gillooly’s to Xavier roads on the N17.

The Vito’s tracker has, however, already been removed.

Apparently, three days after the burglary, the wife followed a Vito which looked very much like theirs, into the direction of Benoni.

However, the driver of the Vito was speeding at 140km/h when he or she noticed that he or she was being followed, which prevented the wife to catch up with the Vito.

The couple has a suspicion that the Vito might still be in the Boksburg or Benoni area and encourages residents to be on the lookout for both vehicles that appear in the video. The Vito’s license plate is VRT 789 GP.

The incident has been reported at the Boksburg North police station.
