Maverick Awards: Youth entrepreneurial excellence celebrated

The Maverick Awards, celebrating contribution by young entrepreneurs in South Africa, will be launched at an entrepreneurial gala dinner to be held at Emperors Palace, on Friday, June 13.

The ceremony will be hosted by Under 35 Mavericks, which is a youth-owned enterprise development consultancy, and will coincide with the country’s annual Youth Month.

The Awards will recognise 10 categories of young entrepreneurs and nominations are open to all young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 to 35 who operate their businesses within the borders of South Africa.

They also need to have been in operation for at least three years, turning over a minimum of R1-million in revenue per annum.

According to the founder and chief Maverick, at Under 35 Mavericks, Bokang Seritsane, the awards will acknowledge, honour and celebrate the sterling efforts as well as pioneering spirit of the most successful and innovative young entrepreneurs in South Africa.

“The Maverick Awards seek to carve out a space for young entrepreneurs to be the ‘wind’ that drives the sails of our job creation and economic-growth endeavours.

“In a country where a significant proportion of the young population is without employment or sustainable economic opportunity, it is imperative to acknowledge youth success and unleash new role models who can inspire numerous other young South Africans to be the creators of their own destinies,” says Seritsane.

Nominations are open and will close on Friday, March 28.

Winners are in line for some amazing prizes in business growth, support and development opportunities.
