War declared against crime among children

In a bid to prevent crime among school children, Ithemba Victim Support Centre, in conjunction with the Boksburg SAPS and Victim Empowerment Centre, recently visited Comet Primary School.

Topics such as rape, bullying and substance abuse were discussed.

According to Mavis Morage from the Boksburg SAPS Victim Empowerment Centre, the aim is to create awareness about various challenges present in schools.

“We want to create safe and caring schools throughout Boksburg, by declaring war against rape, substance abuse, violence, and carrying of dangerous objects in schools,” says Morage.

The pupils also received gifts from the team, which included rulers carrying police contact details.

According to Morage, the school admitted that bullying among children is one of the serious problems faced by learners.
