According to Werner Vermaak, spokesperson for ER24, paramedics on the scene said the rider was found several metres from his bike.
“It is believed that his bike was thrown into an open veld next to the intersection when it collided with the barrier,” says Vermaak.
“Unfortunately, due to the injuries the motorcyclist sustained there was nothing paramedics could do for him and he was declared dead on scene.”
* In a separate incident, a pedestrian was killed at the intersection of Rondebult and Middle roads on Saturday, at 6.30pm.
Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD, says a taxi struck the pedestrian as he was running across the road.
“The SAPS are investigating a case of culpable homicide,” he adds.
