Majority of hospitals unacceptable
An audit conducted on hospitals around the country found that only one in 394 hospitals were acceptable in service delivery.

The National Health Department conducted the audit between May 2011 and 2012 on 388 hospitals and clinics.
According to the audit, inspectors found that 93 per cent of hospital wards did not have adequate or functional equipment.
Less than a third of nurses were found to treat patients reasonably.
Jack Bloom, DA Gauteng Caucus Leader, says that this is a shocking finding.
“Not a single hospital in Gauteng scores well on all the measures and it shows that improvements are urgently needed,” says Bloom.
