At the event, there were speeches by Reach for Recovery representative, Julie Kolkenbeck-Roux, four-time cancer survivor, Peggie Wittstock, cancer survivor, Carol Tau, and Sister Erika Marais, who educated the attendees on cancer.

Patient liaison officer, Elmarie Eksteen, said she was surprised with the attendance of this function. She also thanked Mariaan Scheepers for her assistance and donations.

Sunward Park Hospital asked attendees for R20 donations, which formed part of their fundraising initiative for Cansa.
