12-year-old drowns in reservoir
A 12-year-old boy fell into an open reservoir, in Vosloorus, and drowned on November 2.
According to William Ntladi, spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Disaster Management Services, it is alleged that there were three boys who gained access through an opening of the palisade fencing.
He says that the boys were playing when the 12-year-old fell in.
“On arrival at the scene of incident, the information exposed to us stated that ‘he slipped into the reservoir and was unable to swim out’.”
Ntladi adds that his two friends, who were with him, after seeing what was happening immediately called for help.
On arrival of the paramedics, rescue teams and police divers, the body was discovered under the water and unfortunately certified dead on scene.
The case has been handed over to the police for further investigations.
