SPCA embarks on Sunset Adventure Dog Walk
Dog owners and supporters of the SPCA are invited to take part in the Sunset Adventure Dog Walk, at the Boksburg City Stadium, in Jubilee Road, on Saturday, November 30.
This event is in aid of the SPCA branches on the East Rand and the hope is to raise much needed funds, as well as collect blankets, leads and collars and food for animals in need.
The event promises to be a lovely afternoon/evening out with the family and dogs.
The walk will start at 4.45pm, where after you can buy a boerewors roll and salads, and something to drink.
There will also be doggy bags on sale, so your walking companion will not be drooling while you enjoy your supper.
The day will also cater for vegetarians.
So bring your picnic blanket, chairs and gazebos and come and enjoy the walk and picnic. Supporters are encouraged to be at the venue from 4pm.
There will be two courses of different lengths and activities to ensure that dogs, large and small, can participate and have a fun time.
The longer course will require old clothes to be worn by the person walking the dog/s, as the format will be an adventure in the form of an interesting, yet fun obstacle course. Climbing between, over and under obstacles is not compulsory, so just come out and enjoy the afternoon. The Sunset Adventure Dog Walk is also an opportunity for the SPCA to engage with the community, get feedback, and to remind the community of the work the branches do for animals in need.
If you don’t have a dog, come along anyway; you can support the event by paying a small entry fee for you — and your dog, if you have one — and walking the route.
All participants go into the draw for a mystery prize, which will be revealed at a later stage.
There will also be a cash prize for the club or organisation that has the most members with dogs in attendance.
The organisers require the following to be adhered:
· All dogs’ vaccinations to be up to date.
· All dogs to be on a leash.
· No puppies under three months.
