Man dies in accident on N12

A man in his 30s has been killed while allegedly trying to cross the N12 Highway in Boksburg, on Tuesday morning, October 29.

According to Vanessa Jackson, spokesperson for ER24, the man and his friend caught a lift from someone in a bakkie, which dropped them off at the Rondebult Road exit in Boksburg.

“The bakkie had stopped on the painted island at the offramp and the man and his friend had gotten off the back and ran to the other side of the road.”

She says that according to witnesses, the man had narrowly missed being knocked down by one vehicle when a vehicle in the second lane then collided into him.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly before 10am and they found the man to have suffered extensive and traumatic injuries.

“Unfortunately their initial assessments revealed that he had already died due to the extensive nature of his injuries, and they had no other option but to declare him dead on scene,” says Jackson.

She adds that the man’s friend was not injured in the incident and authorities are investigating the details surrounding the cause.
