Of the 33 residents who participated in this “homegrown” production, they showed that old does not mean cold.

A variety of disablements were ignored on the day to present joy to fellow residents as well as the public, friends and family.

Seven of the participants were in wheelchairs, 10 in walkers, two on crutches and one blind.

The programme included a “fashion parade with a twist”, two piano solos, as well as an organ solo.

The highlight of the afternoon was the performance of the 33 piece “kitchen band” accompanied by the blind organ player.

The audience was also entertained by the “Dagbreek Boereorkes”, who really made everyone long for their dancing shoes, poetry and song items rendered by children.
