
Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD, says that three motor vehicles were impounded for not being roadworthy and 79 fines were issued for registration and licensing violations.
According to him, 83 fines were issued for moving violations and a further 65 fines for parking and stopping.
“Some 119 pedestrians and motorists were stopped and searched in the CBD, industrial sites, suburbs and at informal settlements.”
He adds that 30 fines were issued to special motorists, for driving without their Professional Drivers Permits (PRDP).
There were 12 accidents in the area, of which three resulted in serious injuries and the remainder in damages only.
