Corpse found in shallow grave

Vosloorus police appeal for help in identifying a murdered man, whose decomposed body was found in a shallow grave, in an open veld.

The man’s body was found in Extension 28, Vosloorus, on Sunday afternoon, September 1.

Police spokesperson, Capt Mega Ndobe, says a passer-by noticed the man’s skull and a hand without fingers sticking out of the ground.

The police were then called and found the body in the grave covered with building rubble and grass.

The identity of the man and the cause of his death remain a mystery.

However, police suspect that the victim had been murdered, and the killers tried to conceal the body by burying it in the area.

A police report lists the victim as a black male, believed to have been an adult dressed in brown trousers and a white T-shirt.

His body has been taken to the medical examiners to determine his identity and cause of death.

The matter is being investigated and an inquest docket has been opened.

If there is a brother, a son, a father or a friend you have not seen or heard from for the past few weeks or months, and the person fits the description, the police urge you to contact them on 011 724 1052/ 086 001 10111.

The body has been transported to the government mortuary.
