Sentenced for theft

The following cases were heard in the Boksburg Magistrates Court:

* Molekoa Leblogonolo (23), from Katlehong, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

The accused pleaded guilty and was found guilty on July 2 and sentenced on September 3 to R1 800 or nine month’s imprisonment.

On June 20 the accused stole two women’s tops from Truworths, to the value of R640.

The accused had a previous conviction of theft from 2010.

Magistrate Kallie du Plessis presided over the matter, and Khato Ranwedzi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Sanele Buthelezi (32), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

The accused pleaded guilty, was found guilty and sentenced on September 4 to 12 months imprisonment suspended for five years.

On July 22 the accused stole a fridge from William Mkhize, to the value of R2 000.

Magistrate Kallie du Plessis presided over the matter, and Khato Ranwedzi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Nillza Mthombeni (320, from Maphutu, appeared in court on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He pleaded not guilty, was found guilty and sentenced on September 3 to R3 000 or 18 months imprisonment.

On July 14 the accused assaulted Sandra Sibuya by hitting her and stabbing her with a bottle.

The victim sustained bruises to both her eyes, abrasions to her left cheek and nostril, injuries to the right side of her neck and a cut on her left index finger which appeared broken with deformities.

Magistrate Kallie du Plessis presided over the matter, and Khato Ranwedzi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Mokwaba Monoreng (28), from Dennilton, originally appeared in court on a charge of murder which was later changed to culpable homicide.

He pleaded guilt and was found guilty on July 9 and sentenced on September 3 to five years imprisonment.

On September 2, 2012, the accused accidently and negligently caused the death of Susan Matsau by hitting her with a wooden object.

Magistrate Shilubana presided over the matter, and Maria Olivier appeared on behalf of the State.
